Biography:
Jane Choi Albanez is a Korean American editor based in Southern California. Her background was shaped by growing up in a Korean/American household. Her upbringing instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and resilience and a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and the complexities of human relationships. She continues to enrich her perspective and understanding of human nature, allowing her to approach every story with greater insight and sensitivity.
Jane earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Minor in Management from the University of California, Irvine, and began her career in finance, accounting, and marketing. However, driven by a longstanding passion for film and television, she transitioned into post-production, pursuing editing on the advice of industry colleagues. After obtaining an Avid certification from Moviola, she began working immediately as an assistant editor on unscripted series such as The Amazing Race and MTV’s Punk’d.
Jane later moved into scripted television, building her editorial experience on projects including Trophy Wife, The Wonder Years, and American Born Chinese. Most recently, she had the opportunity to edit her first feature film, Jesus Land, a culmination of years dedicated to mastering the craft of visual storytelling.
Throughout her career, Jane has developed a keen eye for narrative structure and a collaborative approach to the editing process. Her diverse experiences, both personal and professional, continue to inform her work. Jane remains deeply committed to the art of editing and to crafting compelling stories that resonate with audiences across all backgrounds.
